Yes they do! Where the body spray is connected it has a 'ball & socket' joint which allows the body jet to change direction.
This will all depend on your household pressure however the average shower system will be able to handle 6 body jets quite comfortably.
Any distance you want! As long as they're installed in accordance with the schematic above you shouldn't have any issues at all! Just remember that the further apart you install them you'll see a drop in pressure; so it might be best to have a chat with your plumber beforehand!
